Packaging

We have a strong commitment to re-using and recycling as much packaging as we can in order to help eliminate waste going to landfill.

When posting items, we aim to use compostable satchels when shipping your order, this means you can then compost them in your garden, a great activity to do with the kids.

We recycle 100% of the cardboard boxes we receive from our suppliers and and often your order will arrive wrapped in recycled cardboard, repackaged boxes, recycled paper, or a combination. We look for ways big and small to reduce our footprint.

We use the Better Packaging ComPOST range for our mailers which is certified by the Australasian Bioplastics Association (ABA). The HOME COMPOSTABLE logo verifies that our packaging will breakdown under home composting conditions back into water, carbon dioxide (CO2) and biomass, and will be non-toxic to the environment. To carry this standard they must also biodegrade in a home compost within 180 days, i.e.. approx 6 months. Under commercial composting conditions, it would happen much faster, and as litter (e.g. under a tree) it would happen slower, but it will happen.  The Australian Standard is one of the most rigorous in the world and includes a worm toxicity test which means that our comPOST Packs are safe to be eaten by the little, pink wriggly guys.

Better Packaging - AS5810 certification number is ABAP 20036. You can find their certification listing here.

We use comPOSTubble pockets as bubble wrap.

CERTIFICATIONS Commercial Compostability AS 4736

The sides of these pockets are made up of 3 layers of film (to create the bubbles) and while the individual layers are thin enough to break down in a home compost, when combined, they do not have that certification. They can be broken up and put in the home compost.
